Service Bulletins
Hi, New owner or a used 2005 545i. Purchased through private seller and I just wanted to see if there was a way I could find out what version of software my car was running and if there were any updates needed. In my Passat I would just hook up a VAGCOM and just read the info off the car, but I suspect it is not that easy in the 5s. Any advice anyone could offer would be appreciated.

Could someone post details on SIB 52 06 08 ?
Doesn't 5 series have a similar issue with seat bottoms? At least mine does. I wonder if enough complaints were made there would be some form of service bulletin for the 5 series seat bottoms as well.

If you really need the whole thing let me know and I'll pdf it and post later on.

1. Much better feel of the trans after I picked it up today. Seems to go into gear much more smoothly now. And they said that now that the new software is in, the computer will "learn?" my driving style. So that might explain why it took such a hard press of the gas to get a downshift. Now the downshifting is much quicker to response and quite smooth. So much happier now.
2. Also need new brake pads and new brake sensors. Something about them not wearing down along with the pads so they would cause this squealing noise, so they replaced all the pads and the sensors. Nice sensative brakes feeling. Almost feels like a new car with the trans and brakes being all practically new feeling.
3. To cobradav, here is what the Final Report says word for word, since I don't feel like scanning:
Vehicle data status: E060-08-09-515
Target data status: E060-08-09-520
Thanks cobradav for your info so that I could check with the dealer.
Not sure if this report shows anything that you can verify, but here it is.

when I got the mp3 retrofit I used the mp3 retrofit bulletin to get the mp3 enabled for free under warranty, which clearly states to use program 20.0 or higher to do the mp3 retrofit. Last week when I was at the dealer and asked them for my version number and they said I have E060-05-06-500 which translates to version 17.1
So how can it still be at 17.1 which the car came with from the factory, it?s a puzzle???
My front side markers work, day time running lights work, and more importantly my angeleye eyebrows work and I have mp3 enabled but yet according to thema low CIP version.
Is it possible or they might have made a mistake in getting me my version number. But more improtant question is if IT is correct and I'm on version 17.1 should I ask them to upgrade my software while still under origianl warranty? I don't have any problem with the car (As of today, I have Dension GW500 working perfectly as well).
What is the best excuse I can come up with to get them to update the my PROGMAN.
Thanks
