Who is the best dealer to deal with for service? There are like five dealers in the area, and I was wondering if anyone can recount experiences both good and bad at the various shops? I bought my car from Momentum BMW on 59, but I'm trying to decide which dealer I will be taking it to for service.

Thanks!

Hey, welcome to the forum. I have mine serviced several times at Advantage dealer in downtown. The different reps were responsive and the car wash is not abrasive. Once time, a tech made a couple of shallow hearline clearcoat scratches when fixing my sunroof and dirty the roof fabric. The issue was minor and easily corrected. The lead tech (Bill or Fidel) is very cool and knowledgeable about the 5 series. Appointment with a loaner car can be up to a 2 weeks wait.

I had one service at 45 north (1960); they were OK. The service rep. was not very responsive.

The one on 59 south will not issue a loaner car if you didn't buy from them, but they are the only one that is willing to diagnose issues such as a whistling noise from the windshield at 120 mph!!! Talk to chief tech Antonio if you have this issue.

Thanks for the feedback! I'm closest to the one on Katy Freeway, but since I bought the car at the one on 59 (which I guess means I can get a loaner) I'll try them first if they're good at diagnosing difficult issues. If I have any problems with them, then I'll try Advantage downtown.

I have had good luck with Advantage downtown. It is close to where I work. They drop me off at work and pick me back up. They have always given me a loaner car if mine is not done at the end of the day.

I live in west Memorial and work in the Energy corridor, so downtown is a bit far for me, but if I don't get good service at Momentum, it would be worth the drive.

Is this pretty standard? The Austin dealer would not loan a car for non major maintenance such as oil changes - we bought the car elsewhere prior to moving to Austin. We've had Lexus give us a loaner even for oil changes.

I have brought my car to BMW North and BMW of The Woodlands. My office is less than a mile from BMW North. I was satisfied with both dealers and both have given me loaner cars even though I bought my car in Austin. My last visit was for an oil change and I waited at the dealer rather than ask for a loaner since it only took about an hour.

My 530 is actually at Momentum on Katy for a windshield replacement today. I prefer to deal with Bob Braden at BMW North but Momentum is right across the freeway from my office so it's convenient. Both are O.K.

$1,400?? That's outrageous, go elsewhere. Do you have HUD? If not, then any third-party company can handle it for FAR less. Try someone like Safelite, should only be a few hundred dollars.

EDIT: Didn't I see your post in a thread not too long ago about getting a windshield replaced fairly cheaply? You avatar reminded me...
