Do you know which week of production your cars were? Mine is also due early October but I have no confirmed date, just ordered my M5 mirrors!

Sorry cannot help with that one. Mine could have been built any where between middle of June (when I ordered) and last week (when it was shipped).

No I don't know the production week. My car was ordered in late June for delivery on 1st October. It is in the country (and has been for some weeks) but as it is a company car and my company won't take delivery early I just wait.

The dealer originally warned about the factory shutdown and talked of a 12 week wait. After six weeks he then said it would be in the country on 10th August. So it sits in storage somewhere while I drive my 118k mile C class.

Mind you with all the time the dealer has had, I did ask they get the injectors checked out as I understand there have been warranty issues.

M5 mirrors, now that is a good idea...

Hmm well I guess I will have to wait and see then, although my dealer verbally confirmed it has now been built, as I was waiting for the new 2.0d engine, should be one of the first in the UK. I leave for the US tomorrow, so with a bit of luck it will be here in early October too.

M5 Mirrors, you know you want too! Mine is a company car too, but decided that it makes the car look so much better it was worth the investment, my justification!

525d MSport

The spec on the new 520d engine is very impressive and the tax band exceptional especially with the auto box compared to E220cdi and the like. As it is my BiK will drop from 29% to 24% (although offset by the higher list cost). The 2 litre at 19% is even better of course.

When I decided on mine there wasn't a firm date for when the 2 litre engine would be updated and with the threat of 12 weeks I had to make a choice. Also the specs were not released until after mine was ordered.

I didn't even get to test drive the latest 525d as the only demos around at the time had the 2.5 engine. If I could have driven both new engines and with the money saving I might have gone the 520d route.

Either way it is too late now.

I did have to agree to inject some cash of my own for some of the options I wanted as it was, but the cost of mirrors shouldn't be too high. How much are they?

Well obviously I havent driven the new engined 2.0d either, all I can say is the tax savings alone made it worth the wait, ?55 per month over the entire lease period. Send me a PM will let you know about the mirrors, I was going to order Silver as well, was convinced by all around me at the last minute to change to Space Grey, will be interesting to see if I regret the change of colour choice!
