HELP Logic 7 - Assistance appreciated
My car has been without sound for quite some time now, and I contemplated getting a used Amp for my car (04 545) which i finally broke down and did. After all the research about the no sound thing in these cars, most trails lead back to Amp.
I installed the amp, and nothing. Zero, Zilch nada.
Symptoms: Car has iDrive screen on, but the speaker emblem is crossed out like its muted. When i try to change the radio station, it bounces back and forth from the top line (AM/FM/CD) to the preset channels and does nothing else. Same symptoms as before i swapped the AMP.
I have tried three other amps besides the one that was originally with the car. Soooo, expensive and time consuming troubleshooting is what has happened.
Dealership said there was no communication with the radio (thats all they would tell me)
Coding guy here local in Houston traced it back to AMP.
That about all the info I have. I will upload a video of what its doing later this evening. Any help would be appreciated. Anybody local in North Houston could be even better if they may know more about this than I do.

E60 no audio output from I-Drive, NAV, PDC etc... - Bimmerfest - BMW Forums
looked here, seems i may need a reprogram. Anyone in Houston other than the dealer worth their weight in salt? I just want the Idrive reprogrammed, not the whole car.

the sound is sent over the optical cables, I know the CIC warns you of no warning signals when it spots the L7 amp isn't connected.
For the amp to work it needs power (check fuse), a most loop that is intact, and obviously the speaker cables. The canbus wires need to be connected if coding is desired.

Try and find someone with bmw software that can check it out, it most likely needs to be programmed, and the easiest way to tell is to find someone with bmw software, it'll actually give codes that the hifiamp needs coding/programming. If not, they can do a ring break test to verify the most is in fact closed. If that works, you'll need to check power, group and can lines to verify it is in fact properly communicating as it should. If all else checks out, programming/coding doesn't work, you may have gotten a faulty amp. But I doubt it.
