All's well that ends well!
I'm now officially off of some lame conference call with Tokyo that kept me surfing here, but now I get to go drive my car home. In the end, it's all about the E60! AS no AS, they are all fun to drive.

You guys see a criticism of a BMW technology as an attack on you
The people who actually know how to drive cars know AS is lame
The people who actually know how to drive cars know AS is lame
It's comments like these that make me wonder if I really want to join this BMW "fraternity." The cars themselves are great, just a lot of really abrasive know-it-alls seem to drive them. Then again, perhaps that means I'll fit right in.
BTW, I still find myself wondering whether AS is going to be something I'll like or not. If I get a 7er the active roll stabilization is available as standard without AS; if I opt for the 5er I cannot get the sport package without AS.

As was pointed out by myself and others in the thread, just because Urbo doesn't like AS doesn't make his opinion right, it just makes it his opinion. And the same applies to those who love the AS. I tend to agree w/ Urbo as I would have loved to gotten the Active Roll Stabilization and sport suspension but the AS really turned me off. But just because he prefers the feel without the AS doesn't make AS silly nor does it make those who like it silly, or bad drivers or any of the other crap that was tossed around. As I said 4 pages ago, this thread was nothing but a list of personal opinions that are all correct as far as that individual is concerned. But it has developed into a childish pissing match.

In fact, here are Urbo's first two posts, hardly a well reasoned, thought out constructive criticism of AS...
Urbo:
Right on! I agree completely. AS is lame - sorry! The M5 got it right if it doesn't have this gimmick. It's the only reason I opted out of the sports package on my car. It's up there with Adaptive Cruise Control in terms of sillyness to me. *I* like to drive my car.... how lazy are people getting? It's scary. I like the BMW ad where they show a guy driving through cones in one instance with and in one instance w/o AS. I almost burst out laughing at how lame and pointless it was.
Sorry, but a perfect example why AS is S T U P I D. Lazy people... Christ!

[/quote]I see you guys are still dwelling on this. It's nice to take quotes out of context. How about putting the whole context there:
"I love it.? Can't do without it.? Unfortunately I almost get in accidents when I drive my Lexus.? I forget i need to make more effort to turn my other car."
"I love being able to drive with only one hand."
"Teriyaki"
ME: "Sorry, but a perfect example why AS is S T U P I D. Lazy people... Christ!"
What's so hard to understand from that? I called this particular person lazy and dangerous for what he said. Almost get into accidents? Love to drive with one hand? What is this!? Seriously!
And there are others who do the same - I've seen them. My friend included with his 545i. Hence "lazy people" - driving with one hand with the help of AS - to me it's stupid. Sorry it's so damn hard to understand. So stop trying to make it sound like I called everyone on this board with AS lazy. I was refering in general. YOU are draggin this thread on for more than it should. YOU are the problem. I tried to diffuse it towards the end, but here you are back at it. STOP trying to antagonize me, even if it's for kicks. Take your own advice and stop it. I know you like to have the last word so go ahead.
