Bluetooth with Pocket PC - XV6600
#31
Further to my experience with my Audiovox XV6600 (Verizon) and my 545i (CIP 18.00.01) - the phone pairs just fine every time, the car is now the default headset. There is no Contacts transfer, as expected.
I can answer incoming calls by selecting "Accept" on the screen via the iDrive controller, don't need to touch my phone itself. I've made a couple of calls using the iDrive controls where you manually enter the number (you can also speak it via Voice Control, works well!) - those numbers are now stored in the Redial list, so I can access them anytime.
I only call a few numbers on a regular basis, so now I just hit the Voice Recognition button, say "Redial", the iDrive screen shows me a list of the numbers I've dialed, and I select the appropriate one via the Controller and have it initiate the call - no need to touch/interact with my phone itself at all - very neat!
At this point, I'm pretty thrilled with what the Pocket PC phone can do, so glad I get basic functionality at least! The sound quality is pretty good, no complaints from callers.
My immediate wish is that incoming calls would show the calling number instead of just "Unknown". Small issue really, and will hopefully get sorted out with software updates that have full support for the XV6600 and other Pocket PC phones.

I too would like to know the required Bluetooth profiles.? I know a fair amount about Windows CE.? The various PPCs use different BT stacks so their BT interopability varies.? Even when using the Microsoft stack, the OEMs vary in their support of the different BT profiles.
That said, there is also the issue that Verizon tends to disable some BT functionality to force you to go to them for additional services.
