Alpina B7 Blasts Past AMG E63 in Drag Race

By -

While the AMG spends all day taking on all comers, the Alpina B7 only needed to get lucky once due to freshness.

Drag racing is a sport for all to enjoy. Muscle cars, trucks, vans, motorcycles, hypercars, even luxury cars, if it can go, it can be sent down the strip.

Back around this time in 2018, YouTube channel Gumbal paid a visit to Weeze Airport in Weeze, Germany, where Dutch-German drag racing organizers Petrolhead Events put on their annual Spring Event. It was there two competitors would make their mark in their own ways: a Mercedes-AMG E63 and an Alpina B7.

The E63 spent the day going up against one and all down the runway, starting with the Nissan GT-R above. That GT-R smoked the the E63, as did a second GT-R, though the AMG did beat a third GT-R alongside a Camaro (which did an unintentional burnout off the line) and an Audi RS4 wagon.

But we’re not here for that.

Alpina B7

Based on the BMW 750Li, the Alpina B7 gains a modded 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 good for 600 horses and 590 lb-ft of torque, which is sent to the back or all corners through a quicker-shifting eight-speed automatic. It can reach 60 mph in 3.6 seconds, and top out at over 190 mph. Plus, it looks lovely in metallic green with gold Alpina trim.

After the AMG performs a smokey burnout, both it and the Alpina set up for their run, their engines purring and ready to go.

The green light pops, and so does the Alpina as it blasts off the line ahead of the AMG. Though the E63 tries to catch-up, it didn’t have enough mustard to beat the B7.

The Alpina pulls off the runway victorious, ready to hand out more punishments to AMGs when ready.
