My Ride: 2008 535xi Platinum Gray, Black Dakota Leather, Sport Pkg
Another XI owner here.
Ready to get the Miro 111 for my 535.
Just wanted to confirm with you guys, from what I've read in this thread, I can go with 19x8.5 in the front and 19x9.5 in the back which would coincide with what tire size? My thing is, living in Chicagoland area, I can only use the Miro's in the summer. I want to do winter tires on the stock rims, and just swap them in the winter.
Would the size mentioned above work without any modifications to the suspension, no spacers, would it look good?
I understand that I would also have to move the TPM sensor every time I do the swap?
Any advice for this setup would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, the Miro 111's will work fine with no spacers as long as you get the right offsets (ET35 front, ET33 rear), but IMHO, they'll look wrong if you don't lower your xi. Our cars have a pretty prominent gap in the wheel well. The recommended tire sizes for the 19" staggered setup are 245/35/19 front, and 275/30/19 rear (although some go 285 in the back.)

I don't know what rim & tire widths would work but the stock M5 tire size would look great on a stock E61 being that the tire would be about 1.5" total diameter larger and fill that prominent gap concentrically. I certainly don't mind that my larger tires fill the whole fender edge gap without lowering the car at all.

I thought the stock M5 setup didn't work for our cars? I like that setup because it puts a little more rubber on the sidewall which on nasty norcal roads would help with ride compliance, but again, does this work for the E61? I also don't want to lower my car (front bumper rubs in a few ramps as it is) and would like a 19" setup which doesn't look too horrible with our huge fender gaps.
My wheels are et29 / 8.5" rim with 245/45x18 Bridgestone 960as. I could easily put the 9.5" rim and tire on the rear but wanted all 4 to be the same.

Any thoughts on how slightly plus sized wheel/tires will play with x-drive? I'll keep all four equal circumference, but would like to have some extra rubber, not that I'm upgrading to 19's. (I hate to be a wuss, but I drive 3-4K miles a month and need a comfortable ride.) So I'd like to go 245/40/19 front, and 275/35/19 rear, which will make me about 3% slower all the way around.
Can anybody share actual experiences. (Not just the usual myths, please. )

As for rubbing, I think you'll have no issues, as long as you match the offsets right. Also, you can always resort to rolling and even pulling fenders - so that's not really an issue, IMO. There are people, who did the taller sidewall thing with winter tires and had no rubbing on RWD E60s, so that's reason enough to me to not expect any major rubbing problems. Again, offset-permitting.
As a matter of fact, if I had the extra power of the 535 (vs my slow-go 530 ), I'd definitely go to higher profile rubber myself. Honestly, I see no reason why not. But you know, "try at your own risk" and all
