No, you missed my point entirely. I said performance is the 1st priority. 17's do not come very wide, thus less traction. 18" is the best mix because you can get the width as well as everything else - aside from the best looks that is. At a certain point, the sidewall will become too flexible, another reason 17" is not ideal on a 4200 lb car with 26" tires.

So if I had a M5 with stock 19's would I want to change them to 18's for better performance?

Why not? Sure you can get 18's. Get anything you want! Its YOUR car! And I think 18's don't look half-bad on E60. Especially, if you pick the right look

on staggered, rears are usually either 275/25 or 285/25.

Depends. Do you want summer tires? Or do you want all season? Best I've found for all season are Continental DWS tires - I have them on, driven through the winter with them (with several ski trip under the belt). Awesome! Excellent!

From what I've found - but haven't tried yet - on the summer performance front, my pick are the Nitto NT05's, but they are semi-slicks, so you might wanna take it down a notch.

How about Size: 18x8.5 Front / 18x9.5 Rear, Bolt Pattern: 5x120, Offset: ET35 Front / ET35 Rear
72.6 Hubcentric, is this sounds quite right? if so i'm getting 'em, what would you say guys?
