I think that New MB V8 will only be for AMG vehicles.
I'm curious as to what MB's answer to the BMW's 4.8 V8 in the 750i and 550i will be.

A E 550 or S 550 LOL actually they prob cant... since BMW has already registered the rights to "550" Maybe E 555 or S 555
M-B has already E320 and S320 so why not a E550?
You guys can read right? It's a 6.3L engine... probably would be an E63 or S63 as an AMG model, although there's no "ring" to that number IMO. Getting 510hp out of a 6.3L V8 is hardly newsworthy, other than the fact that Germany has seen fit to take the American approach to making horsepower.
Certainly no more remarkable than the Chevrolet LS7 engine.
Not sure let me investigate that and let you know... ... ... ... Oh yes!! I can... Ok then maybe S 630 or E 630. I forget why I said 550... all I remember now was saying 550 because it had somthing to do with competing with BMW.
Sorry. I guess this engine should be interesting even if it's only going to go in AMG cars. If it's a sign of things to come and the trend continues, we're going to see a big climb in displacement from Germany. No more sub-5 liter engines for performance cars.

Ok heres a comparison to the m5/m6's 5.0 v10 to mercs new 6.3 v8.
Mercedes: 6.3 V8, 510 bhp @ 6800rpm. 630 nm @ 5200rpm
BMW: 5.0 V10, 507bhp @ 7750rpm. 520nm @ 6100rpm
Mercedes has a clear advantage with torque an extra 110nm, and its 900rpm lower in the rev range which means easier overtaking ability. Also the same for bhp, 3 more bhp at 950rpm lower in the rev range. So mercedes has the advantage for power and ease of driving. But the mercs engine must be alot heavier than bm's engine meaning nose heavy handling. And if its going to be an amg engine, the fact the power is so easily accesible muat make it less fun. a higher power range gives you more excuse to floor it! and its got to be a more exciting experience. Like other people are saying given the capacity BMW would have got so much more power than Mercedes engine. personally BMWS V10 is a more of a headliner engine.

Why don't you folks check the facts first!? What does the BMW V10 weight?? and this new V8 Mercedes AMG?
Fact is the V8 is lighter. Who cares about pressing power out of little displacement? Who cares about displacement in the first place? All that matters is how much fuel you give your car, how reliable the car is and how fast it is. Even the kompressor V8 AMG 55 engines have lower fuelconsumption than the new V10 BMW. Just because the V10 revs high and is a NA engine, doesn't mean it is more efficient with the fuel. And THAT is what matters most. This new AMG V8 63 looks very great, as it's lighter, have allot of torque without rotating a supercharger, and also revs decent.
Pressing revs out of displacement is just a decision made, nothing very hard to achieve. Motorcycles revs much, since the engine don't need to pull a big mass. A car needs allot more torque, and that is darn important. So please stop comparing hp/litre, speculation in that area is silly - come on!
