Cool pics guys

What an awesome awesome weekend.

My camera, along with my wife and car, are unforetunately still in Munich My car lost all power on Sunday morning and had to be taken to BMW on Monday -- I am waiting for feedback from BMW as to what the root cause is and when they can fix it. I had to fly back to Copenhagen and on to Oslo on business. (Not at all impressed with the service from BMW in Munich, but that's a different matter). I think my wife's shopping bills in Munich to pass the time are going to cost us more than the repairs Fortunately a very close friend of ours lives in Munich, with a great apartment, so she has somewhere to stay and relax. (Lucky I have a Touring, I'll need all that boot space for her shopping... hurry up BMW!!!!!)

None the less, its been an fantastic meet and as soon as I get things sorted with the car and my wife safely home, which are obviously priority #1, I'll chime in again and post up some pics and review etc.

Just found out my manifold and turbo need replacing... and BMW are going to hit me with the full bill of EUR2000 because of my remap, even though their Service guys near enough say its unlikely it was caused by the remap, because the facts clearly point to the manifold already being faulty/ on it way out. Strictly speaking they are entitled to do this according to the BMW EuroPlus Used Car Guarantee, but I spoke to them and they had the choice to "do the right thing" and simply chose to hit me with the full bill. In a few days, when I am feeling a little less emotional, they will get a written response from me and I will copy my previous dealer who had done such a great job of looking after me with my 4 previous (new) BMWs. Maybe they'll reconsider and not hit me with the full amount, but I'm not going to get my hopes up. Its at times like this when you wonder why you should be loyal to the brand.

Good news is that the car will be fixed tomorrow, my wife can then travel up to Frankfurt to family and I will fly down to Frankfurt on Friday to then make the long drive together back up to Copenhagen. Wow, what a week... talk about highs and lows

Time for a beer, or maybe 10...

Damn, sorry to hear about the manifold and turbo, Pete. At least they're being reasonably quick about the work, but one little piece of advice: write that "response" before you calm down. I've had that advice from a number of people, not least Mrs. MacSid (and she would know!)

DAMN.... sorry to hear that, Pete

But a glass half full: at least you had a great weekend there (as I hear)...
half empty though: you may need to consider it a very expensive weekend in case they'll keep pushing you with this bill...
Damn those dealers....

I hope for the best for you, but sometimes in situations like this there may be a thick solid wall on the other side of the argument...
Example: (of course, sums are nowhere to be comparable) recently my stupid Luxembourgish bank BCEE charged me 50 EUR fees for two eurotransfers to Germany (of 10 EUR value buy the way!! Imagine that!) and despite of all my complaints, phone calls to bank managers, and mails they simply reply that I have to use BIC / IBAN in the EU in the future and German BLZ is not considered EU transfer by Luxembourg anymore....
So, they're happy to charge 25 EUR for such transfer, even if you transfer 1,00 EUR...

That really is bad luck... but why remapping a 530d? It's stock more than fast enough.
My 530d has now 205.000km and i've never had problems with turbo or manifold.

Greetings from Maranello, Italy.

Nice pics, Simon!!

Pete, give us an update on your repairs! And I hope that the drive back home has gone smoothly after all this drama.

Ever since we hit 240km/h on the A9, my transmission has been acting strange when in Sport mode.

Not good.

Here are a few more pics.

And the last pic is from Livigno, Italy, where we found TAX FREE diesel, and booze at a Shell station!

Great pics! I bet you've had some great time!
Feels kind of embarrassing to meet you later at the summer... You're a real globetrotter and I'm real hillbilly living up here never visiting anywhere and spreading "the wisdom" from behind the screen !

It's not too late Anzafin.

Move to LA or New York, open up a detail shop and get rich off E60.net members.
