Glad some have enjoyed the "interesting" photos. Hopefully more photos today. RR, I don't think that Chevrolet associates SS with Nazi's , but if I see an SS car today, then you know that I'll get you a photo.

No one commented on the motorcycle photo. Why would he (she?) do that on a nice bike?

Oh, and here is a pic of our 3er--320d. Very nice little car. Makes me think more about getting a 335i, but, then, there always is the 09 590i.

Gee. I didn't see any "fun" cars today--for brain teasers, etc. But, OK, all but the last pic below are the most unusual, for Rothenburg, cars I saw today. No photoshopping except cropping--too lazy. Normally, I wouldn't have tried black cars given the light source. The last photo is a very familiar scene in Rothenburg--an indoor parking lot crowded with MB's. They weren't even very good MB's--all to old to be of interest.

Sorry, off topic here...

MacSid, I am in Munich at the moment and am planning on a quick trip to Amsterdam for some Heineken ; what's the best option to there besides plane?

Thanks in advance.

I hate to break it to you, but the Nurburgring is not actually in Nurnberg - it actually about 80km from Cologne.

However, when you are in Nurnberg, do take in the Dokumentationszentrum and old Olympic Stadium. Both feature in the history of Nazi Germany, the former having a pretty darn good museum.

Hey Zman,

You were in Frankfurt and didn't say a word?

You can drive to The Ring but it's closed for public driving since the 24h race is currently @ The Ring.

Gertrude, for she is my nav lady, recently safely saw me through France, Belgium, Germany to Prague, Vienna, Klagenfurt, Venice, Florence, Pisa, the Italian Lakes and back to UK.

Over 3000 miles in 3 weeks and yes, we did stop and got to do things.

Long European road trips are what the e60 is built for.

Didn't skip a beat.

You drove THROUGH the Italian lakes? Your car dives?

I love the long trips with my car. It is definately a car for comfortable long trips, but also for spirited driving on mountain roads or on track.

What I dislike is driving in the rush hour, but the reason for that is not my E60.

You can always make a funny out of a misquote.

You'll notice I said TO the Italian Lakes but THROUGH France, Belgium and Germany.

Spirited driving and touring? I wonder if it is if the the difference between self-gratification and social pleasure.

And does one of them make you go blind?

My guesstimate is that an "ICE Train" would get you there in about 8 hours centre to centre. You may be able to do it in a similar time by road (road works permitting and not getting stuck in town centre traffic.

Heineken? I wonder if it's different to the rather unpleasant drink that bears the same name in the UK?

Of course in Amsterdam you could go to a "coffee shop"...

In Amsterdam I would park my car and take the tram to a) Rijksmuseum and then to b) Rembrandt museum. And if I have kids with me I'll jump into the car again and go to Madurodam http://www.madurodam.nl/default.php?langua...e=1&fid=479
