Znod,

How's it going I'm in Bamberg, about an hours drive from Wurzburg and thirty minutes from Nurnberg. From the sounds of it you are enjoying your trip. Yes, it has been hot here today I think my wife said it was in the low 90s. Nice talking to you continue to have fun.

What is the name of the BMW factory city again?--Dopplebanger or something like that.
Dingolfing is the place of the largest BMW factory in the world, about 90-100km NE of Munich.

Z, have fun in Bavaria!!

Hi Gang:

We are vacationing in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. Most of our time will be in Germany along the Romantic Road. We flew into Franfurt, rented a 320d, drove to Wurzburg, and now are in Rothenburg. The later two are wonderful places; we spent almost no time in Frankfurt. Tomorrow we will drive to N?rnberg--just to get a quick look at the Ring. AFAIK, nothing is scheduled for tomorrow. So, I don't really know what we will be able to see. There are two kinds of cars so far BMW's and MB's; 50% each. More later.

Best to all,

"The" Zman

I hate to break it to you, but the Nurburgring is not actually in Nurnberg - it actually about 80km from Cologne.

However, when you are in Nurnberg, do take in the Dokumentationszentrum and old Olympic Stadium. Both feature in the history of Nazi Germany, the former having a pretty darn good museum.

Hi Friends:

We did not go to the Ring today and may not go at all. I was too unsure about what is going there on and other details. Instead, we took a day trip to another wonderful little town--Dinklebuel. I decided to take some photos of interesting, to me, motor vehicles. There is no point in taking photos of BMW's and MB's. As indicated before, they are all over the place. I am posting 4 pics below (small images because I am having slow-upload problems right now). Who can answer the following questions,

First Pic--Why would anyone do that in Wurzburg (wonderful people and town--like all we have visited in Germany and Europe in general)?
Second Pic--What kind and model car?
Third Pic--What kind and model car?
Fourth Pic--What is unusual about this car?

Have fun. More later. I now have a board-related mission--posting unusual, to me, car pics. We are thinking more and more about going to Dingolfing.

Good point. I figured out that we are going to neither. For one, thing, as pointed out below, the Ring is not in Nurnberg.

Thanks much to all that pointed out the fatal flaw in my plan. I'm sure glad that we decided not to go today. Finding the Ring would have been very difficult.

Hi Ice:

Thanks for (probably) thinking that we might meet up in Frankfurt on our way out, but we will not reach out hotel, the night before we leave, until about 10 pm. Then, out flight is a very early one. For some reason, I did not realize that you are in Frankfurt. But, next time I'll definitely plan on meeting up with you.

Best, Znod
