they'll be back. But what odds could you have got on Brawn GP getting a pole in their debut race? Unbelievable. This, of course, must largely have been the car that Honda would have raced had they stayed the F1 course in 2009. Maybe they should have stuck with it...

I recorded the qualifying and just finished watching. Wow, to think Jenson was without a ride and Rubens was going to retire not too long ago. Now they are P1 & 2, respectively. Just amazing. This hasn't happened for a debut team since 1970 with March/Jackie Stewart! I know they benefitted from all the Honda development, but still. Good show!

Here are a few of my observations:

1. All the worries about the cars being slow due to the 1K rpm drop and aerodynamics restrictions were unfounded. The cars are as fast or faster than last year.

2. You know it's F1 when the season hasn't even started and already there's a controversy over a diffuser to be fought out at FIA HQ in Paris!

3. I guess those rumors about Richard Branson were at least partially true. He didn't buy the old Honda team, but he sure got his name on their car and his mug on TV! Serendipity must be that guy's middle name!

4. Brawn has the ugliest color scheme of all time! Rubens and Jenson always get stuck in the most hideous cars. (Not that they give a rip now!)

Too many protests, the "diffuser" cars in the front. Two rules?
Actually three rules, some have the KERS some not?

Toyota disqualificated? A protest against Red Bull and Ferrari by Williams
but withdrawned at once?

A huge scandal the whole F1 season opening!

Ecclestone and Mosley should get the hell off the arena and fast.
One over aged pensioner and one pervert ruling the worlds greatest motor sport?

Winners are Brawn GP (big congrats) and Virgin R. Branson, a smart move, once again.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO what was Vettel trying to achieve !? Unbelievable....

I hope they also disqualify Brawn, Toyota, as i know FIA they will probably don't but........

A race that didn't prove anything about the new aerodynamic changes as there were just as few over-takings as last year. Kers is also a non sense as it appears didn't really help the drivers overtake when they wanted to.

+1

No clue what happened to both cars (I haven't heard yet), but they had better get their heads screwed on straight by next weekend.

And, I would guess that now that everyone knows that the Brawn Mercedes GP (or whatever it will be called next weekend) rear diffuser is LEGAL, we will see a similar solution used by Ferrari, McLaren, etc.

Vettel's start position will be dropped 10 places for Sepang, and Red Bull was given a $50,000 fine for not calling him when the SC came out.

Lets see what happens with Trulli's 25 second, post-race penalty...

Hurray for a 10 place grid penalty for Vettel. I was like Dumb move when he knew he wasn't going to be able to hold off Kubica. Kubica probably also could've waited until the exit...he seemed to have the tires and power to wait. The KERS was interesting with balancing the extra weight but getting the boost. You could see the gain when they used it but it's so short and with the extra weight I think it's not a whole lot of benefit.

Things still remain to be seen. I think a lot of manufacturers are still shaking down the cars as amazing as it seems. Pretty disappointed with the Ferrari's though.
