Very nice choice! I used to carry P7s. Your model is known as the P7 in Germany, but in the states is known as the P7 PSP. It differs slightly from the more common P7M8. The PSP has the European style magazine release on the heel of the grip and is a little more compact than the P7M8. Of the P7s (P7 PSP, P7M8, P7M13 and the giant P7M10), the P7 PSP is my favorite. I have owned P7 PSPs, P7M8s and P7M13s. The P7M13 has a double-stack 13 round magazine and is much heavier.

The only downside to the P7 series is that they are all steel and fairly heavy for their size. But if you are only going to use it to sport shoot and not carry, that shouldn't be a problem.

For target shooting, the one drawback of the P7PSP from the P7M8 is that the P7 PSP does not have the plastic heatshield in the trigger guard. That steel gets hot real fast on the PSP.

Overall, you have made a fine choice for a first firearm! The only reason I gave up my P7s was because the manual of arms was so much different than my Sig P228 (M11) duty weapon. Make sure you get the scraper in to clean out the gas chamber under the fixed barrel.

Shoot straight and enjoy that P7. That is the German firearm equivalent to our BMWs!

Thanks. I really appreciate the info you provide, especially since you carried it as a duty sidearm. I may see if you can identify the police markings. Even though the slide was machined to remove them, all of them are still clearly visible.

I had researched the PSP a great deal prior to purchase and even though the M8 has minor improvements, the price was just so good I couldn't pass it up.

I have the firearm in my possession now, it is really beautiful. I'll post pictures later.

Nice gun. I love shooting guns. At a range that is. Skeet shooting is so much fun. Shot 4 out of 5 my first time.

I'll be taking ownership of my first handgun today. No real motivation for the purchase, nothing political or in response to anything. I simply happened to see a very good price on a firearm I have always wanted.

It's one of these...

I will post some pics of mine tonight hopefully.

That is a beauty! I have a Sig P220 and a HK USP 9 full size. I had the USP 45 with the Knights Arm Suppressor. Boy it was fun. I use to shoot several times a week. My favorite is a les Baer SRP but i want a P7 too. Have fun. Shoot safe.

There's quite a difference between these 2, Tony. You won't like the size of the P226 unless you are just range shooting. It's a full-size SIG. The P239 is very small, almost like a mini-glock 26. I say meet in the middle and get my favorite.....SIG P229 .40 S&W. I have 2 of them...and 2 P228's....love 'em!
+1.

I have 1 P229, 4 P228s, 2 SigPros (my 2nd favorite Sig behind the 228), 1 P245, 2 Beretta 92s and a Para P14-45.

I was surprised by the SigPro. I have the SP2009 and SP2340 (40 and .357 Sig barrels). I prefer them to the SP2022. Anyway, I took the SP2009 to a SWAT course in the states and it out performed most of the pistols there. Accurate, ergonomic and most important....RELIABLE.

HKs are good, but I have never had a malfunction with a Sig. At a Blackwater course, we were shooting in the rain and mud. Our M4s were malfunctioning horribly, but the Sigs kept going (P228). On a side note, we ran the course with AK-47s and they didn't have any problems either. I am not a fan of the AR15/M-16/M-4 set up.

A man who knows his quality guns! My other long lost bro...that makes 3! At one point I owned 2 SigPro's....the same ones you have. I really liked them, although they never really caught on with the public. Like you said, ergonomically, it's one of the best feeling SIG's out there. I guess it was the polymer frame that die-hard SIG fans couldn't relate to. I never owned the Army/marine standard Beretta 92 but did have a Cougar 8000 9mm....worst accuracy of all the guns I ever had.

I also had the P220, P245, P226 & P225 (old school). I always wanted to get one of their newer 1911's. I had a Para P10-45 for a short while....ok gun. Throw in my Kimber TLE, my 2 Custom Colt Officers .45's, a few Springfield XD's, my 3 Glocks, my 2 H&K compacts, and....Damn, I owned (own) a lot of guns!!!

I was getting a bit excited there for a second. We need more guns threads!!

My 2 most prized babies below (Colt Officers Lighweight Enhanced...full custom w/ Robar's Roguard/NP3 finish):

Waco as you know the Kalashnikov is so damn reliable it would probably shoot when out of ammo

You aren't kidding! On my last trip to Afghanistan, I might have had an AK cut down to a Krinkov and carried that outside the wire. Of course, since it isn't issue, I con only say that I might have done that.

Ahhh, yes. Very fine indeed. I have owned just about every autoloader over the years. I had to cut down the herd since I left them in the states. I know what you mean about the P225. I have owned a couple over the years. I bought one from a pilot that was never fire for $300. He bought it over here in Germany in the 80s and never used it. I should have kept that one. I have had tons of P220s. My favorite P220 was a 9mm P220 (real old school) with a factory 38 super barrel and 10 38 super mags. I also had 10 9mm mags (I am a mag nut, I have 60 new P228 Mecgar 15 round mags). That was a sweet gun. I shot it every now and then and one day a guy offered me $1500 cash for the set-up and I parted ways with it.

I am a Sig Certified Armorer, so I am set to work on my Sigs. I also have really worked over my P14-45. It's a beauty.

Your Colts are absolutely stunning! I had a P229 NP3'd once, I liked the slick finish.

Damn, I could go on and on about guns...

Here is that P229. I had the 40 and .357 barrel for it plus a Barsto 9mm conversion barrel (100% reliable). I had the CTC grips for it (first gen back then). I had it during the ban and had 13 x 12 round 40/357 mags and 12 x 13 round 9mm mags for it. Man, the stupid money I used to spend on factory hi-cap mags back then.

Here it was:

Here is my SP2340 with the 357 barrel in. It's got the tac light and CTC grips. Man, can it shoot. I have this one here in Germany and have done well in some matches with it. Again, lot's of mags....
