I usually buy from B&H and they're estimating November, so hopefully, I'll be in the first run of people scrabling to pick these up.

Definitely! As an aside, here's what the 40D can do for portraits (tethered and shot with strobes and hot lights). I'm sure the 5DMkII will be better

My 5D does a nice job with portraits/people too - these first two were ISO 800 with natural light.

Absolutely stunning. 800/natural light is amazing. Very nice captures!

Drop me a note on the performance of the camera when you get and use it. I would really like to know. Being a gadget geek, I always have to have whatever is new!

No. They were all with the 24-105 f4 L.

The first two were wide open at f4. I'm pretty sure that the last one was at f8.
