Yeah I know. I can't believe the introductory price for the body is only $2700. That's less than what I paid for my 5D new a year ago and after a $400 rebate. These bad boys are gonna fly off the shelf this holiday season.
I paid $500 less for a new 40D than I did for the 10D. It happens.

I dont have big zoom lens yet but will be getting 70-200.
Which 70-200 are you looking at? The new 70-200 f4 IS has some great reviews. The new IS gives you 4 more stops, which is better than the IS on the f2.8. I have the 70-200 f2.8 (non-IS), after selling off an f4 because I needed the extra speed for lowlight. Any of the Canon 70-200's are amazing lenses with the best bokeh in the industry.

Very tempting, but the 5D series is known for portraits and I need the 6.5FPS in my 40D, not to mention the spot-on focusing. Still...it's tempting.
+ 1

I would love to get the full frame 5D Mark ll. It appears to be a beautiful kit and has all the functions and specs that I want in a camera, but the continuous shooting 3.9 FPS is on the slow side for my needs. I wonder why they didn't incorporate faster continuous shooting in the 5D Mark ll? Perhaps they could have gone the Nikon (D700/D300) route. Faster continuous shooting with the added grip/battery pack? If this were the case, I'd be at my local Canon dealer as we speak!

The 5D is a portrait camera, so the 3.9 is in line. Look at the $8K 1Ds mIII that will shoot at 5FPS vs. the 1D mIII at half the price at 10 FPS. Different cameras for different tasks... What surprises me is the HD movie capability in the 5d mII. THat caught more than a few people off guard!

The 50D with the Digic4 looks like another winner! Congrats!

Like you, I also have the 40D and I love it! The only time I find the camera lacking is when I need a really wide angle. The 1.6 time crop factor limits the wide angle capabilities. There was a point where I was thinking of selling all my Canon gear and going with Nikon (D700) to get the fast continuous shooting and full frame capabilities, but I can't seem to part with my Canon 'L' lenses, and the fabulous color reproduction of Canon cameras!

For me, the HD movie capability isn't that important. But I've heard that there is software available to capture single shots from videos shot in the HD mode. That could be the answer I'm looking for in terms of continuous shooting~

I just recently got the 50D as a filler until a replacement for the 5D came out, but it looks like I'll have to hold on to it a bit longer. If they did they make 5D Mark ll faster then Canon EOS-1D Mark III and Canon EOS-1Ds Mark III will not sell and every 1 would buy 5D Mark ll

Take a look at the 10-22 EF-S. It's L quality glass.

The 5D Mark ll is an awesome kit no doubt, but the continuous shooting of 3.9 FPS is a bit too slow for effective action/sports photography.

Those are some great shots! Maybe it's not time for a new camera, but a new lens? Those shots are with a 40D and the 10-22 EF-S lens? Thanks for sharing your work with me Alex!
