I used to work with a network engineer who had a Porsche with a "TCP IP" plate with the state logo in between. Yeah, I know it's pretty corny, but the dude was a CCIE with a really low number (IIRC below 1000) and he made some serious money on TCP IP.

I saw a Ferrari outside the Luxor in Vegas with "10HRDWY". I almost shit, especially because I had just lost about $1500 playing craps

Double 5's = Hard 10. It's a high odds bet on craps. When placing the bet, it's common to say '10 the Hard Way', or simply '10 hard way', hence the plate.

I miss home (Vegas). Yo, 11!

lol - that's even more obscure than putting E60 on a plate. I'm glad it wasn't an easy one, I always feel so dumb when someone points out the obvious ones (like 4RE for Ferrari).

The worst thing about vanity plates are that regardless of how corny or crafty they may be... they are the easiest to identify and remember in the case of an accident, traffic violation, targeted hate or robbery, and even eye witness accounts.

I have a buddy who's family had vanity plates. There was a hit and run situation where they had passed by. An eye witness somehow remembered their vanity plate and reported them to the police. Though their car had no damage and they were not at fault.. it was unnecessary for them to explain their innocence based on a false account by the witness just because their plates were easy to remember..
