My plate is V8 4PLAY. Got it the day before my quad install, after a looong war with the DMV over the word "4PLAY" (some heifer at the Van Nuys DMV didn't want to release it to me April '08). Got a notice in the mail April '09 saying the plate will be returned to the DMV if not picked up. Called DMV in Sacto, told them what happened, and they said speak with a supervisor. If the plate passes the on-line check and gets made, the local DMV has no authority to withold it. I went to the DMV, told a supervisor exactly that, and got my plate.
