I too think we MAY see a F10 appear on the car show circuit late '09 but would be shocked if it were on the roads in the US prior to 2010. But a twin turbo V8 sounds delicious...
It's rather risky to get head to head with MB release of W212, E60 outsold MB W211 already for the first time. I'll let the V8 biturbo as my ace card then roll in F10 with the kill (at least you'll see what MB W212 has to offer by that time).
but all are IMHO

Manny tranny and every option available for that year

New Mercedes E-Class
I'm not seeing MB doing anything any drastically different that would make BMW sweat. According to the article, the W212 is supposed to debut @ Frankfurt in September of next year, which would be on schedule with their usual 7 year cycle. The F10 should come out 1 year afterwards, which would be 2010 as many have stated.

I think its in reaction to MB.
What the rumour maybe started with is that someone inside BMW is pondering whether the timeplan should be "adjusted" as last time or if the stick with the Plan A,presenting the F10 in March 2010 at Geneva and the F11 in March 2011.
Anyway, it will be interesting to follow the progress of the F10 the forthcoming months... and just imagine how fun they have within the HQ in Munich about these discussions!

My Ride: 2008 528i: Silver/Black/Light Wood, ZPP, ZCW, STEP, Comfort Seat, Heated Rear Seat, PDC, Xenon, Nav, iPod. 35% ceramic tint, VentureShield clear bra.
Since the 5 series was just refreshed in 2008, I will say that all will go according to the plan. The E60 still looks terrific today and I kinda wonder how BMW will improve the design.

I have $500 with the person who would bet that the F10 would come anytime earlier than Spring of 2010 .....
