In Canada (Quebec) they have made it mandatory as of december 15th.

I was curious in knowing what some of you are running for the winter? Just picked up an E61 for the wife and need to decide very quickly what we will get for winters. Right know leaning towards Gislaveds Nordfrost 5's in the 225-50-17 size. We had been running NordFrost 3's on her XC70 these past couple of years. Thuoughts, recommendations are welcome thanks!
Nokian tyres could be an option too!

I'm not aware of your winter driving conditions, but if you could take/use studded tyres, then Nokian Hakkapeliitta 7 would be the right choice! Size 225/50 R17 works nicely.

Nokian are great tires!

Had them on my previous car A4, and the wifes previous Volvo. Minor difference in price between the Nokian's vs. the Gislaved's. Studded tires would be very practical but 70% of the driving is in the city therefore not necessary.

I will be ordering the Gislaved's in the end as I would support a friend starting up his business in the process. Tx for the feedback!

Screw studded winter tires! They were great on my 970kg, 1967 Volkswagen Beetle, but an E61 does not need them!

And with the amount (or lack) of snow that we get down here, winter tires are becoming quite useless as well.

I had to LMAO in AUGUST, when I drove next to someone in the center of Turku, that had studded winter tires on their car.

Studs are not needed - XDrive is the best solution this problem

Mate...there can be visitors (like me ) from the northern parts...
Of course. That doesn't make it any LESS annoying to hear those studded tires!

It also reminded me that winter was coming, and I don't like to think about that issue when it is 21?C and sunny!
