Pleased to hear it worked out for you. I am a little frustrated at the fuel consumption with mine and how often the auto changes gear. (I just came from the 3,0l LCI auto, so its quite a step down / I know how good an auto and fuel economy can be!) However as LW78 keeps telling me, along with everyone else I speak to about these frustrations, I also need to get my car remapped to get this sorted. Your post just confirms that, especially with the fuel economy. (The power increase has nothing to do with my decision, honest )
I will probably go with Wetterauer; they are a very well respected German remapping company, have a lot of good write-ups in the press, and have a work-shop just down the road from me.

I think companies that make remap are all equivalent more or less. I did choose evolved because they were almost on my way and I read good press on them. But I am sure many other would have been as good.

On fuel consumption I have to say on motorway I use the cruise control a lot so as to keep stabilized speed (typically 145km/hr unless area I know well and know where cops are doing speed check then ...can be more like 180km/hrs). In Uk I mainly drive M4 and traffic jam and density prevent use of cruise control. In town in the morning when commuting to work i never push the engine. I am not sure it is anyway right to rush to work...

Done remap..and happy. Yet let see how it will last.
Acceleration come earlier and stronger, (although torque low range Rpm was limited so as to not put transmission at risk). Really makes the car nicer to drive....and all this with about 15% less diesel consumption. Yet will recalibrate i-drive just in case, but for time being paper calculation seems to confirm.
interesting topic, have you had a chance to have additional info on this. Still satisfied?
And what exactly do you mean by "recalibrate iDrive"?

Still satisfied...even though stuck in US for 3 weeks for business trip and not had a chance to drive the car in last 2 weeks

Fuel consumption on idrive is 'calculated' and as everything that is calculated it can be calibrated. Meaning it is not because i-drive says you do x MPG that actual does match. You should keep track of refuel vs mileage and it compare. That would be a good start. I found in this forum a topic on i drive cal..long time ago. You might find it using the great search box at the top right of the screen!

Hope you enjoy your 530xd. Great car. Mine is an 06 version (build april06)
