Norse- All the reviews on the catch can are during install. Ive yet to see one review that shows 1 year out. Have you read/seen any that shows the amount of oil it catches after a period of time?

Lotus - Did you get the socket locally? Plugs are in the mail, and im looking for a local place that sells that socket

Cobb just arrived. So im hoping to get my fuel economy settled before i run the tune

Walnut Blast Appointment on the 9th at Nixon.
Plugs once i find the socket
Oil change next week

From what I've read on E90post, I don't think it's conclusive OCC's work / needed.

I got mine from this guy, who's in Toronto: n54Tuning.com - N54/N55 Spark Plug Socket Tool Your #1 Source for Performance Parts for the N54/N55 Just $20. Not sure where / if you can find one locally. You can borrow mine if you'd like though, send me a PM.

For your Walnut blast, are they going to do a scope first to see how bad it is?

What did they quote you for the job?

N54tunign is around $40 shipped. Ill prob get the Schwagen aka ECS tuning oem set from
Calgary Autoworks - Tuning | Service | Parts. Schwaben Deep Well Spark Plug Socket 3/8 drive fits BMW. The socket with a torque wrench is $60

They quoted $500+tax. No scope. The way i see it is that it needs to be done so may as well be now since im at 100k, about to put a tune, and it was never done.

Wow, $500 + tax? Smoking deal! Once you get it done, post up!

Be careful with that socket, I'm sure this was a one off... Spark Plug DIY Disaster (Beware of the Schwaben Socket) and rough idle

I know the BMS one has the magnet at the bottom, whereas the guy in the post refers to some o ring type magnet, though it might be the same style in the end.

Great to hear. They took the before/after pics for you?

Which tech did the work? I might call them up and ask. It came out to the $500 including tax?

I had a dealer do mine and it occurred to me "how would I know if they really did it?" Yes, I am a skeptic and question most people and their quality of work.

Well, when I installed the oil catch can recently I found proof that would be too time consuming to fake, tiny little brown particles all over the top of the engine down in the small spaces.

Now, I know they did the blasting, but again, re-confirmed my ideas about quality of work. Do we not think that for $400-$500 we are also paying for decent clean up after work is done?! Took me just a little time with compressed air from a compressor to blow out but it was down in beside all the injectors and anywhere that could collect bits. Very annoying and shows the tech didn't care assuming the owner would never even see it. That's a pretty bad attitude and lack of pride.

That sucks that they didnt clean up after considering it a pricy job.

I actually wondered the same thing. The time/date stamp corresponds with the time they told me they started and the after pic corresponds with when i was on the phone and they told me that they were about to take the pic now.

Also my butt dyno and lighter wallet says it was done
