Was hunting for the walnut blast and talked to a SA from Brian Jessel. He told me the walnut should be my last resort and to run 91 from Shell and go hit Cypress uphill hard to stress the engine to burn some carbon out.

On a side note the last few days ive been driving using the manumatic or whatever its called. Keeping my engine at around 4500. The dash is telling me that im at 14.6 L/100.

I wonder if the stress on the engine is cleaning it up a bit

I like how that guy thinks!

I mean, if you're going to give that a shot, I would do this.

Find some Marvel Mystery Oil fuel cleaner, Redline S1 or Seafoam ( or something similar ), run your tank to near empty, put a bottle + Shell V-Power ( top tier gas, also V-power has a lot of cleaning agents in it ), and go have a day of fun up in the mountains

Also, since you only have 55k, I highly recommend an oil catch can

BMW Oil Catch Can for BMW 135 335 1M 535 by BMS Best Oil Catch Can

They have a photo of the intake at 48,000 miles....

Sa is full of shit. The issue is this is a direct injection motor, so the fuel never touchs the intake or valves! The only thing a 'hard run' or any fuel additives will do is put more oil in the intake, or tune up your injectors. I got $10 on a super dirty intake, so try a new shop (CG?) And get it scoped!

Ya i know. Weird that the SA suggested that rather than dropping 1k to blast it.

Ill wait until tomorrow to see what all the shops say. I left messages for a bunch, but they were all closed on long weekend

Are you going to explore whether it's possible and how well you can check the intake valves thru a bore scope? It doesn't make sense to drop $700 if for less than $100 (I'd hope) you could get an idea of how bad they're gunked up first.

Still thinking bout it. I can just buy a borescope for $100 rather than pay someone $100
