MPG issues - What should i check first
Im currently getting around 18 L/100 Km which is around 13.05 MPG (as per the dash)
Mainly city driving with trips avg of 10-20km
20" rims/ Magnaflow exhaust / KW3 drop are the mods.
Is this in line with what i should expect? I see all other people posting much better mpg than myself even for city driving. Most posts ive seen state an avg of 13.05 L /100 or 18 mpg for city.
Anyone got any ideas of things to check or what i can do to improve the mpg. Ive actually been going out of my way to stay light on the pedal and it seems to have minimal impact.
Thanks

Yeah, I'd say 13L / 100 km's for city is about what to shoot for. Unless you're really heavy footed. I've got a big roof box on the whole time too, and I get around 15. 18 sounds crazy!
Not sure if intake valve cleaning of the carbon deposits would impact that. Look into it. These cars need them done as a preventative measure around 50,000 miles ideally if you want max performance.

Take a look at the intake valves and see if they're gummed up - its what N54's are known for - if so, they need cleaning.
Install an oil seperator can to prevent the issue, or minimize it.
Hmm, I'd check the basics, air filter, plugs, etc

How many miles are on the wagon?
Don't forget a dirty fuel filter can be problematic as well
Though, I think the intake valves may be the culprit

I agree with the previous suggestions to look at the intake for carbon buildup. Do you have any lumpy idle issues? Also, unless you KNOW the plug have been replaced, they are supposed to have a 100K lifespan. I changed mine at 60K and the difference was marked. Could also be leaky injectors, so check for wet plugs when you change them.

Yeah, those couple of places you posted about (guess you saw the E90post thread) are about what I've heard, besides dealer. Was going to get my 335 checked out by dealer to check their condition before assuming it needs it, but they told me by the time they take off the valves to check them, they're like half way there in terms of labour, so I might as well do it then.
Someone else said though it should be fairly easy to check the condition of the valves by using a scope after just taking off the air intake, which is a 15 minute job, but I've not found a shop to do that yet (haven't asked), and don't know much more than that about it. Would love to hear your research if you find out any more info on it.

I dont really have a lumpy idle. But i cant help but feel its sluggish for the amount of power this supposedly has.
Guess ill just flip the plugs. ZGR6STE2.. amazon time again.
Did this just turn into a westcoast regional forum?

I'd say that's more the intake valves than plugs. If you find out how to get them scoped, post up details pls.
It's easy to do the plugs yourself. I've done mine on the 335, which is same engine, just a few different covers to get to the engine.
Just make sure you have the special plug socket our cars need and a torque wrench that does 17 ft lbs.
