bikes really kill it. got 18 ish on a trip once with box plus 2 mtn bikes running 70-75

I wouldn't say the box alone is exactly -10% because i've used different size boxes and on different routes but it is substantial as your speed increases. at lower speeds like 55 it is much less of a change

Driving E61 cruise control 90 km/h (without AC) with several speedy drives to pass the trucks I make 7.2 l / 100 km (weather was +9 C)

P.S. How to convert MPG to l/km ??? because all talk about MPG but I dont know how much is that in litres/100km

using conversion tables and U.S. gallon, 1 mpg = 2.35 litres/km, or 235 litres/100km, that sound about right? so 20 mpg = 20 * 235 = 4700 litres/100km. is that right?

oh, and for my 530xiT, about 18 mpg in city driving. and on my 3000 mile run to Yellowstone National Park, including 1.5 weeks of sightseeing there, I ended up with 27 mpg.

nice, thanks for the search lesson . But if you didn't have the Internet, here's how to solve it the old school method. OK, figured out what was wrong with my prior formula:

1 mile = 1.609344 km
1 gallon = 3.78541178 litres

x litre/100km = 1 / (y mpg * .01609344 100km/mile / 3.78541178 litres/gal)
x litre/100km = 1 / (y mpg * .00425144)

7.19310652 litres/100km = 1 / (32.7 * .00425144)

its 5.35 l /100 km ???? I dont believe
I read there the treads and think that there is a lot of cheaters ) I dont believe that BMW 3.0 D can consumpt less than 6.2 l/100km
maybe only driving down the hill after wind blowing to your back)
Last time i measure the consumtion I fill the full fuel tank and look at test 6.01 there was 70.5 L after i drive higway at cruise control 90 km/h i look at the test and see how much fuel is gone and count that in petrol station and after fill the fuel tank again and got REALLY 7.2l /100 km - the results was exactly the same!!! counting vs filling the fuel tank !!!
O course if i reset the BC at easy driving or down the hill the BC shows 5 l/100km or less

By the way I talk about TOURING !!!! E61 because of this weight. There was the tread about weight and about comfort seats and sunroof extra weight.

and i have read the true story that BMW oficial consumtion need to add 1...2 litres .So our cars is not new and the consumption should be a bit more that oficial instruction says !!!!
Now I want to measure my cars real weight I do it on next days I publish the results
Good calculator :
