But WHY? Why drive a nice car like this in the snow and salt and cinders? Get yourself a cheap jeep or something and beat the hell out of it during the winter - leave the bimmer in the garage. Serioulsy

hahahah! not all of us can afford a second car!
but seriously, if i wasnt considering moving out of Michigan soon i would probably buy a beater SUV....anytime it snows im stranded at home the M5 isnt really an all-year vehicle here in detroit. i thought my 545i was bad....this thing is like owning a vette in the snow...

I'd love to get me a beater car... I can afford it.. money isn't too big an issue for picking up a cheapy beater car.
But I have no place to put it!![Frown](https://5series.net/forums/images/smilies/imported/sad.gif)
No driveway space, no space on the street, etc.
So it's all up to my trusty e60 to take me from A to B, regardless of conditions.
I swear though - once I have a big place, it's going to have a hugeeeee driveway.

Why NOT? A little snow never hurt anything. I keep it plenty clean, it gets washed all the time. Salt never sits on it. And I don't "beat the crap out of it". Also, no room for another car. Thank you for your concern though

To each his own, no doubt. I've been around for awhile and this conversation comes up every year. I stand by my previous statements in this case however.
