Can't help you there, I have the OEM kit in my car, I like it so far. I know Dension works a little bit better and has some more features like the USB slot where you can add a hardrive, but I only have about 1000 songs that I listen to and my iPod has enough memory. So I can't really justify getting rid of my OEM kit and dropping $500+ for Dension. Maybe I will when they have the AVR, video input for idrive enabled.

As far as OEM kit and Dension 500, there are a lot of benefits from the dension compared to the OEM kit.

Since I had both, the load time for the Dension is instant. That is because it indexes all the songs on the ipod.

Also you can search by artists or title, as oppose to the OEM solution where you have to find it somehow and there's a 500 song list limitation. (dension has it too but you can select pages or search by letter).

I have the iphone so i can actually listen to other applications on the dension.

There's another option on the dension that you can use the IPOD interface, which can utilize the "Shuffle" ipod feature or u can have the passenger select songs with the ipod itself, instead of idrive.

one big thing, the dension continues on the song where you left of on the IPOD. so if you unplugged it left the car, come back, plug it back in and continues the last song.

I know, I read your post the other day, great gob by the way, the post was very detailed.

So, you are saying you can listen to different applications?? how about online radio??

I agree on the "song restart" issue, my OEM kit is driving me crazy with this, I find myself listening to the same song over and over again. But I'm still trying not to spend $500+ for Dension. But like I said before, I will go for it when the AVR feature is enabled.

ohhh you didnt see my post on internet radio?!? =)

It works, pandora works great. I've used it while driving for 1/2 hour going like 80-100mph's and no disconnection and the stream is great.

And the dension is only $420 shipped!

You can listen to anything on the iphone as long as it loads fine. Works seamlessly. (youtube, games, whatever)

I have an iPod touch, so I have to be in WIFI for Pandora to work. But I guess it would still be nice to have that capability.

ahh ic ic. that stinks. I do believe there's is a module via USB stick where you can get wireless internet, but that's another cost in itself.

If you look at dension's website you can see there's an option to plug that in.

And laptops or any device can connect to wifi in the car.

OK, here's a good question for you. I noticed on the Dension website that video would work if you have NAV. I don't have NAV in my car but what if I install a NAV screen (just the screen). I know that my iDrive screen will shift to the left and the right side of the screen, which is normally used for navigation, will be blank but then I can used my iPod to play video, full screen.

Do you think that's possible?

I'm not sure either. I'm waiting for someone to verify that video will work. We're still waiting. Until then, its up in the air.
