Found a couple of references to the 6Hp26TU tranny

https://5series.net/forums/topic/318...ally-improved/

http://wardsautoworld.com/ar/auto_zf...ter/index.html this article claims 200 millisecond (ms) downshift time which is pretty damn good for a slushbox.

On http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/sho...d.php?t=302017 Several Ferrari's with F1 gearbox are around 150-225 ms and the aston Martin Vanquish is 250 ms

Incidently the new F10 8-speed ZF box also does a 200 ms shift

15 seconds - that's the time the ZF transmission will hold a gear manually before it reverts to auto once you flipped a steering wheel paddle while the tranny was in regular auto mode. That is, unless you keep the paddle engaged; or you're doing heavy engine braking or heavy acceleration.

I perceive that it is shorter than that; more like 5 seconds, but it's what I read in the "new-steptronic-what-is-actually-improved" article referenced above.

Did the test on down shifing manually into 1st gear from above 2000RPM. I didn't have any trouble doing it. Did it a couple times from 2000 - 3000 RPM and it downshifted into 1st.

You have a wider revband as your car zips gasoline; mine tops out at 4,750 so the fact you can downshift a bit higher than the approx 2,100 I'm allowed I'll put down to the greater elasticity of your engine. Still, if you car redlines at 7,000 and a downshift from e.g. 3,000 rpm yields fex 4,500 rpm in the next lower gear then I find the transmission to be nannying! I'd like to be able to downshift in any gear as long as the gear I'm dropped into doesn't force the engine beyond redline. In my case that means I should be able to downshift at about 3,500 rpm which would push revs up to about 4,750 in the next lower gear but I'm sat waiting for a further drop of 1,400 rpm before the nanny will allow me to interfere with the driving experience..... In your case you should be able to downshift from about 5,500 revs and not the max 3,000 you see now.

1-0 to manuals!

Can do 2650 from third to second which results in 3750 rpm in second. Can do 3050 from fourth to thirdwhich results in 4000 rpm in third. But downshifting to first is restricted to 2050 rpm in second!

Ok... just a quick question - does the acceleration/throttle response feel completely different between sport and non-sport mode (regardless of being in D or DS)?

I'll hopefully be able to chime in on the shift points, etc. later when our roads are better, but I think the number one impact of the SAT/sport button is the throttle response and the shift speed (I don't percieve any difference in steering "heavyness" on mine, but that could be due to other options I have). If you're experiencing the throttle response difference, then you're probably ok on the coding...

Definetely; there's much more response for just a little pedal travel when the sport button is engaged.

I happen to also have the 3-stage sprint booster (off, medium and aggressive) so with the sport button I have 4 programmable throttle response levels which is cool.

I didn't try anything above 3,000 so let's not call it a max just yet .

how is the weather now

Been rainy, but supposedly up to 20c tomorrow so perhaps I'll get around to it; I would like to help you out of the conundrum.
