I would call them Rudy. As I sat in the car listening to the preview channel during the process, there was an ad about getting the first year free on any new install on a 3 series, so maybe the program has ended on the 5 series. The lady from Sirius was not very bright. I had to spell nearly every word for her, like my address is on General Diaz. She didn't know how to spell general. And she had no idea how to spell New Orleans...

I had mine installed last September and paid $495 parts/labor.

As for the 1st year free, after 4 months of constant calls to Sirius, they have finally honored the free service. When I activated in Sept, the representative told me that I qualified for year free. Then, in November I received a bill for one year service. When I called to inquire, I was told by a different representative that my car didn't qualify and that I would need to have my dealer fax a form indicating that I did in fact qualify. Just got off the phone again today with Sirius, and they FINALLY confirmed that I would get the 1st year free and apologized for the confusion. Hopefully no more invoices until next year. Love the radio, but the customer service could be better.

Did your dealer fax any form? Was that what made the difference?

No, dealer didn't have to fax form. I just got so fed up, I called Sirius again and asked to speak with a supervisor. Suprisingly, all I did was have her look up my account, and she said that there was no outstanding charges. After I had her triple check, she informed me that they had fixed my account to reflect the 1st year free. Don't know what happened, but I'm all set now.

No fax needed for me either, just mentioned it to the Sirius operator and I guess she looked up the ESN and saw it was a BMW unit. No questions asked. Maybe I'll get a bill like jeffnin, we'll see.

Holy s*%t! What the heck are they charging for labor up there? Go to this link for the workorder from my install (see Doc2.doc). Unit = $350, labor (2hrs) = $164, assorted brackets and bolts = approx $15 Grand total = $530 before tax for Sirius install. My advice is to keep shopping around and stay away from BMW of Manhattan...

I picked up a 5 series accessories catalogue today when I dropped off my car for NAV retrofit. Sirius receiver, part # 65 12 6 944 987; mounting bracket, part # 65 10 6 925 468; Bolt M5x13mm(7 required); part # 07 11 9 902 932; and clip nut M5 (3 required) part # 61 13 1 372 033. System price $365 plus labor.

And amazingly enough, that is exactly what my dealer charged (see above)! Assuming asg is charged for 2 hours of labor like I was, BMW of Manhattan is charging $267.50 PER HOUR for labor!!!! Runaway! Runaway!

BMW of Manhattan told me that their quote included 4 hours of labor at $112 per hour....needless to say I'm not getting Sirius installed there....
