Runflat wheel with non-runflat tire ?
Dealer told me I can put NON RF on STYLE 122 with no problems. Time to buy winter tires. I am getting the continental. I think two posters already said they had good experience with them.
Or maybe should I buy a good set of all season NON RF tires and forget the RF stuff?

Now when I got my computer running again I can join this good tread.
My dealer confirms that you can install non-RF's on a RF rim, but not a RF tire on a non RF rim.
And then about winter tires:
It is only this season that RF winter tires has come to the market. And I mean real winter tires for ice and snow not all-season tires.
But forget the RF's!
In a test made by the leading Nordic carmagazines the best stubbless non-RF winter tires where:
1) Continental ContiVikingContact3
2) Gislaved SoftFrost2
3) Nokian Hakkapeliitta RSi
4) Michelin X-Ice
These tires are of speedclass Q except the Nokian ? so in theory they are not suitable for a E60. They have a speed limit of 160 km/h (170).
But if you do not drive faster and you need a REAL winter tyre, go for these.
I can personally recommend the Continental.
The problem with most these tires is that you cannot find them in 17" (225/50) not to talk about 18". But search the web.
Therefore I drive with 16" wheels in the winter.

I am thinking in just putting a set of 16 for the winter and leave my Style 122 untoched and put back in the spring. Any comments?

The 16" wheels fits perfect a 525i. The car don't look much with these but they give (with good tires) safty and comfort.
A 540i, 545i or 550i and the x-model E60's need 17" wheels.

Let me ask:
I am hearing many comments about the RF (noise and the wooden feel) tires on bmw.
Since my car is soon to arrive and I will be getting RF (maybe those Dunlops) and the sport pkg, can the ContiTouringContact CH95 be used with sport pkg?
I have those tires on my e60 525 right now but the car does not have sport pkg. The tires ride very smooth and minimal noise.
Thanks in advance.

I am led to understand that the suspension set up is different on vehicles with run flat tyres. Will this have any effect when changing to non run flat?

It might be argued that the suspension is 'tuned' for runflats but...
