Runflat wheel with non-runflat tire ?

I have also found that all BMW rims are rim innner profile "J" code. All todays tires are made "J" as well. Therefore regular tire should fit all standart BMW wheels. This is based on parts numbers and tire shop site

Just to offer my opinion on the conflicting information here, the wheels that come with the runflats on the E60 are "conventional" wheels, not runflat wheels. The runflat tires are the "self-supporting" type which are designed to be used with these standard rims.

Think of it another way. BMW recommends NOT driving with the runflats in the snow, because they are 'summer' tires. Therefore they are saying that you should substitute other tires for winter (snow) driving. If there was any problem with you using non-runflat winter tires, don't you think there would be a number of HUGE WARNING STICKERS everywhere? (Can't stand those things - I removed them all) Certainly there would be warnings in the manual.

Any car in the world should have summer tires for summer and winter tires for winter. Each of those can be also in Runflat version.
So basicaly there are 4 options of tires, which all of them are perfectly fine and have their purpose.
1. summer tires
2. winter tires
3. summer tires Runflat
4. winter tires Runflat
ok amigo
5. all season tires = bull$hit, not a great performce in summer or winter
especially all season tires on hig performance car such E60....uhmmm quiet funny.
The only issue here with some of us is that the runflat version is a little too less comfortable. That is it.
There is nothing wrong with BMW and their tires.

I have them on my current E60 and i am happy with them. No funny noise.
Again, i dont have RF. My upcoming E60 will. I just think I should replace them because of the amount of noise that so many people are experiencing. I havent experience the noise myself

[/quote]The noise is not that bad (at least wasn't on my iteration of Bridgestone RFs). I drove a 2005 325 loaner and the most noticeable thing was noisier tires. My new non-RFs are quieter but my RFs were really not bad.
