Did you have the TV function already and you added the digital thing, or does the settop box need analog tv to work?

I had the analog TV module allready.
The newer TV modules are both, analog and digital! That's why the TV options price increased by, I think, 200.-?.
If you don't have the TV function, but have nav pro... you can get the TV tuner (what, as I just said, now has both, analog and digital!).
But then you don't have the remote and probably no text...

If you have the TV option and you add the settop box, the settop box is receiving digital TV, the TV tuner analog. The settop box has a remote (IR) and can show text and EPG. The tuner (analog) can't show text and has no remote.
If you get a MY2005 E60 with TV option, you have both, digital and analog on the tuner. But this tuner doesn't show text through idrive nor does it have a remote.
I don't know why BMW is not adding the text option to idrive, the tuner should be able to receive it. Anyways... If you want remote and/or text you need the settop box. I think the TV option is required for the settop box, but that I don't know for sure. Without TV option on the car, just retrofit the TV tuner and you'll get digital and analog TV, but again... no text and no remote (you would need to add the settop box too).

The signal is going through the CCC, what means you can't, unless you have a module that blocks the tach signal or modify the software (what is possible).
