Why do you want it? I've tried it out on a Infiniti FX and I didn't like it at all. Much harder to judge the distance than audible PDC. Especially when it's dark, raining or snowing..

Hi

I had a chance to look at the UK E90 Accessories Brochure last week, and in it, BMW describes a retrofit for a rear camera as well as a front prism camera option. Thing is, that in the pictures and descriptions, BMW say that the retrofit kits include a small monitor screen that fits in to the centre air vents and therefore REPLACES one of the pair of vents.

THIS is very interesting because it implies that although there would seem to be auxilliary video inputs available in the iDrive section of the car electronics, for some reason, the images from these inputs CANNOT be displayed on the iDrive monitor itself!

Or, perhaps BMW decided that the driver would appreciate being able to see BOTH the normal iDrive screen (for example, PDC graphic display) AND rear view camera at the same time.

However, I don't understand why they would have chosen to give up on a centre airvent (driver's side) and replace it with a 3.5" or thereabouts LCD screen.

Very puzzling.... maybe someone can give a logical answer to this...

All the Best

Hobi

I bet not even the engineers in Munich can give a logical answer...
