Looking through the latest BMW accessories brochure saw rear view camera with image on IDrive screen. Anyone know any more about this aftermarket option i.e. cost and how its fitted. Looks great.

It's an "April Fool" from BMW.

Merv,

I saw this in an old Accesory catalogue and was of the opinion that it was something plannedg but not yet available. Was the catalogue a 04 or a 05 one ? I'm also interested in this option and will make enquiries with my dealer who probably won't have any clue what I'm on about.

I've seen a set up in a X5 where a hole was cut in the middle of the BMW logo for a camera. Then it was wired to module which changed the input to the camera when the car was in reverse.

seriously though why would you need a camera? you're driving a midsize car, not a bus.

Well, to get back on topic for Irish Driver, I was at my dealer a couple of weeks ago getting the wood shift knob and e-brake handle, and as I looked through the latest accessories catalog, there was no mention of a rear-view camera. Apparently not available yet, at least not here in the US. Maybe you guys in Europe have different options available...
