Yeah, was looking at the RD exhaust system a while ago. 11700euros here. :'(
The RD engine conversion/exhaust/rear bumper for 545i/550i costs 48000euros....peanuts!

From what a lot of people have said on this board, changing your stock exhaust will yield you zero to minimal gain in HP and sometimes even loss of HP. It's better to keep the stock if performance is your goal. However, if you want a deeper growl or the look of quads then the aftermarket exhaust system is the way to go.

I'm looking to go with a customized quad exhaust sometime soon. Something like what Hamann5 did. I will keep my exhaust system in place, just have a muffler shop run one of my two mufflers to the right side and have my body shop cut a slot for tips on the right side of my M-tech diffuser. I have seen Iceman316's M5 rear bumper and I might just go with that. I'll think about it.
I guess the increase or decrease on hp depends on how the body shop fits the exhaust system perfectly or not, no ?

I don't think that fitment of the exhaust system has anything to do with increase or decrease of HP. It's just that there isn't really any significant gain without gutting the stock system and replacing it with an entirely new exhaust system up to the headers like EuroCarFan said.

Only way to find out for sure is dyno your car before and after getting an Eisenmann exhaust put in. Compare the numbers and if your HP went up by 6% then I'll do it as well.

Speaking of which, I need to get mine dyno'ed before I start slapping on my performance mods: differential and remapped ECU.

Doesnt Eisenmann exhaust give a minimum of 6% boost in hp too ? Well...if i get eisenmanna at ard 2 grand on my 550i...its also ard ~21 hp increase...
in terms of pricing, if you wanna compare apples to apples, compare eisenmann's $2k quad to just this:

RDSport Rear Silencer (Quad Pipe Conversion) $2660

...since eisenmann (and all other brands) don't offer headers, cats, or x-pipe. of course, if you do get the rds mufflers, then you need the x-pipe, so total is about $3500. that's not bad since its a real quad (2 mufflers) instead of eisenamann's or hamann's fake quads. (and actually this isn't apples to apples anymore )

every mod company "claims" their mods raise x # of hp. you always gonna believe them?
no way to really know unless you dyno before and after installing the mod.

The $2660 for the RDS includes the X-pipe. When I looked into it, the X-pipe came in the kit and at that time you could not purchase the silencers seperate. I purchased it and then traded it in for the Hamann as I was worried about the sound.

The only way you are going to see a true 6hp increase is if you open up the intake.

That being said, the RDS will give you the least restrictive flow over any of the systems. It removes the box resonator in the back and runs large diameter pipes right to the silencers, which are straight through. It is the only true dual system available - at this time (unless you customize your own).

The eisenmann does the funky thing like Hamann that everything really runs to one muffler, then splits off a second set of pipes.

The only downside of the RDS is that it is going to be on the louder end. So if you want the least restriction and want noise, go with the RDS.
