New member: Question about which spec e60 to purchase
Hi guys,
I've had my eyes on a 2004+ e60 for awhile now, and now it's finally time to enter the market.
Through my research, I've found that the e60 got a refresh in 2008 which updated some exterior components as well as some interior components like a new steering wheel/iDrive/Gearstick.
Now my question is two parts:
1) Why do some refreshed (facelifted?) e60s have a new steering wheel AND a new gear stick, while some models of the same year only have one or the other. What year/model deliberates between the two? e.g. a 2008 545i vs a 2009 528i.
2) Overall, are non turbos more robust and reliable versus turbos?
I'm looking specifically at a sub 100k mile 530i or 540i with sport package. Lemme know if you know of any in silver/black/grey for sale somewhere in proximity to Portland, OR.
Thanks!

The refresh is known as LCI or "Life Cycle Impulse". Don't ask me why they call it that.
This thread will give you more insight:

If you're looking for a sub 100k vehicle and the 2004 you saw is under 100k, I'd say grab it! Many LCI cars are already at the 100k mark these days.
This thread is several years old, but may answer your turbo question:

Welcome to the forum, by the way!

@JayArras
Thank you for the response, that really clears a lot of things up for me.
I know how frustrating it is when new members don't use the search command enough, I'll take at the links you've shared.
Cheers
