From what a lot of people have said on this board, changing your stock exhaust will yield you zero to minimal gain in HP and sometimes even loss of HP. It's better to keep the stock if performance is your goal. However, if you want a deeper growl or the look of quads then the aftermarket exhaust system is the way to go.

I'm looking to go with a customized quad exhaust sometime soon. Something like what Hamann5 did. I will keep my exhaust system in place, just have a muffler shop run one of my two mufflers to the right side and have my body shop cut a slot for tips on the right side of my M-tech diffuser. I have seen Iceman316's M5 rear bumper and I might just go with that. I'll think about it.

The $10K is for the complete Power Exhaust system which includes the following:

RDSport Competition Header set $3855

RDSport Metal Matrix Sport CATS $3550

RDSport X-Flow Downpipe $880

RDSport Rear Silencer (Quad Pipe Conversion) $2660

The prices were quoted to me by Carrozzeria Designs in Irvine, CA. Also, the 25hp+ increase is just from the headers alone so the complete system should yield more.

Haha... I knew you would chime in sooner or later on this. I've seen all your posts about RD Sport exhaust system so you would know best. Still, $10K for about what +30 - +40 HP? Still too much. If it were like $5K then I would consider their exhaust since it is the only one that will yield real HP.

Remember for $9K VF Engineering has a supercharger that will yield +170 HP and torque. That is more BANG! for your bucks.

HAHAHA...I completely agree that it's pricy. I'm wondering what their complete R54 motor conversion would cost if the exhaust system is already $10K.

Slightly off topic but at our first Bay Area Meet at Santana Row, I saw an E39 R48 Racing Dynamics car...fully decked out from exhausts, to wheels, to body kit...it even had a Racing Dynamic serial-numbered plate on the dash. Wonder how fast that thing is.
