Some cop using K-band on east coast, but they do with combination Ka band. It seems to me K-ban just as alert for them.

V1 is a very good choice, but the absence of a silence button is what steered me to an escort 9500. The GPS feature in the escort is also fantastic as it memorizes all of the false alarms on your regular routes. There is also an advanced detection option which displays the frequencies of the radar hitting your vehicle, an important feature for when cops hide near fixed radar spots Or highway speed warning signs and try to mask their detector signature. Believe me, a cheap detector just doesn't cut it. I've used Cobra in the past, total waste of time.

Be sure to invest in some good laser jammers at some point! The V1 offers no protection against laser, only detection. Once you are hit with laser it's pretty much game over. Laser Interceptor is the top choice, and will be my next upgrade.

Ifyou don't want to pay the upfront cost of $400 or up you could just pay deposit and pay rest of them monthly payment directly through escort.

It's really tempting

In Cali most city and county pd will use either k or KA band. However there are many offices now switching to lidar. CHP will use KA, lidar, and other estimation techniques to determine speed. I turn off the x band since it is really old school and the gps button on the 9500 is your best friend for false k band. Everything else there is usually a threat.

I have the Bel STiR PLUS remote mounted detector coupled with Laser Interceptor HP. Pretty much covered.

Only diff in Passport 9500 ci and the Bel STiR PLUS (both made in same plant by Escort) is that the Bel allows you to disable scanning of certain unused radar frequencies and thus provides faster scanning of the remaining "on" frequencies. Really, you'd never notice. Currently, there is truly no competitor for either.

I also has a Passport 9500 xi that I carry for use in my wife's car. Also very good detector but cannot compete with remote either of the above mounted units.

Now on a less serious note....DUDE, you bought a freaking no name $65 detector! Frankly, I'd be more nervous about getting tickets than without it because of the false confidence it will give you. You are going to spend $400-$500 to get a quality non-remote unit.

I have the escort 9500 and the live network. It has saved me a number of times including once with laser. The GPS false alarm is great feature and the live network has helped but the user base is still limited.

It cost more than $300 but one ticket can cost you more than $300 when you consider insurance.

Better check your local laws if youy are planning on installing a laser jammer. I did, and in SC it's illegal. A good friend of mine is a Highway Patrol and he laughed at me when I told him I had one and just said better not get caught! He also said, we are not stupid, and when we shoot the laser at you and it returns an error and then we shoot again and it returns a speed number we know exactly what is going on. He';s a hard ass to speeders and he said they would not get a any break what so ever if he realized there was one in the car... I have mine set to laser shifting off, but notified.

My buddy just picked up a brand new v1, and I've had mine for a while. I noticed mine rarely reports on x-band but his goes off all the time with the same settings. Mine feels much more true to cops, where his goes off for everything.

His hardware may be more newer thus more sensitive. Hardware and software changes will yield different results even though the unit is same.
