I just found the rear view camera retrofit kit which was installed by Midget in ebay. Here is the link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BMW-Genuine...90018QQtcZphoto

The title of the item stated for E46 and E39. I asked the seller for the part number of this retrofit kit and they matched with what Midget had: 66210406999 Converter, 66210412010 Camera.

It's price for $900. We don't have to wait for ACM module for the rear view camera.

wow pretty expensive little mod....but i can see the usefulness of it if one does not have pdc.....like me

In my opinion, it is a useful mod for my non-pdc car and is almost half the price of M5 mirror kit.

True, but for half or more of that price you can get pdc sensors from asia that work just like the oem ones....only difference is that you gotta find mounting spots or get a pdc bumper.

Find the mounting spot means to drill holes in the existing bumper. To get a pdc bumper means extra $$$. After that, the aftermarket pdc kit does not work with iDrive.

I still prefer to get the rear view camera kit which is from BMW and works with my iDrive. PDC sensor only gives the "beeps" to indicate the distance between the rear bumper and objects behind your car. Rear view camera display the objects behind your car from the iDrive screen. A picture is better than a thousand "beeps". That's the big difference. No hole drilling to existing bumper or getting a new pdc bumper.

That's my 0.5 cents.

For the aftermarket PDC kit, I am not sure dealer will install it for you. It is because the kit is aftermarket and they don't want to be liable. I think BMW sell a PDC kit and dealer should agree to install that kit.

Part number: 66210395009 and is $239.20 from Circle BMW in NJ. Give them a call if you are interested in this retrofit kit.

Thanks, but I heard in US u only get Rear PDC but no Front? If $239 includes both Front and Rear PDC sensors I might get it.. $900 for rear camera+ install seems v.expensive for me.

For that price ($239), it is only the rear PDC, no front.

Whats the deal with ACM Module? Cant we get it shipped from outside US and have it installed by BMW Dealer?
I am debating between tvandnav2go.com or this ACM module..

This ACM module is new in Europe so USA dealers have not heard anything about it, not even the part numbers. ACM module does not come with camera at all. Therefore, you have to get the camera too (extra $$$).

If I can get hold of this ACM module, I would install it myself. I have read the installation instruction and it is not hard to do. The time consuming part is to take the trim apart along the driver side door sills for running the wire from trunk to the front behind the iDrive display. Moreover, you have to recode the computer to enable the AUX input. If you have AUX input installed then recoding is no needed. I don't have AUX input, so recoding to enable the AUX input in iDrive is a must.
