The rear camera is for backing up the car. At night, car's reverse light comes on when shifting into R. So, you should be able to see the object behind your car with the camera. I don't know how good is the camera when operating at night. One thing for sure, it won't be as good as in the day time.

It's OK. The reversing light provide sufficient light to see what's behind you.

The title of the item stated for E46 and E39. I asked the seller for the part number of this retrofit kit and they matched with what Midget had: 66210406999 Converter, 66210412010 Camera.
It's price for $900. We don't have to wait for ACM module for the rear view camera.
