I had mine installed 8/30 and it works fine. It does has one little glitch that you have to go back to the root menu to refresh the playlist or artist....ect

I had a huge fight with my dealer who said labor would be $1,000. I flipped and showed him the install guide. He asked where I got it and than started bagging on internet forums and said the install doc was fake. I got horrible service. After calling everyone at the stealership they cut me a 'onetime' deal only if I reply to the service questioner 100% positive. I just might be done with them. It was bad.

Hi Guys,
For UK owners, the IPOD connection is available at Vines (Gatwick).
I booked it today and it will cost ?165 + vat for the kit and ?87 inc vat for fitting.
They said it takes 1 - 1.5 hrs to fit but will need the car all day as the i-drive will
need updating and that takes about 6hrs. I tried Vines ( Redhill ) first but they
could only offer the AUX connection for about ?235 all in. The guy at Gatwick did
say that it only appeared this morning on their computer after an update.

Oh! by the way I've got a May '04 545i

Kelly, you'll be doing us all a favor if you take this up with BMW NA. Gouging on the expectation that most customers won't know what's really involved is pretty much tantamount to fraud!

I can appreciate that. I guess I find it odd that so many negative conclusions are being drawn about a product that no one has all the details about. Not you personally but many on this site. When the iPod your BMW thing came out everyone was complaining that there was no steering wheel control, no information displayed ect. Now that those things are being implimented people are complaining about the way it's implimented. I guess i don't see why people have to spout off so much venom without all the facts.
I want a flying car. Will that be on the 08's?

I remember you saying that. I thought you were kidding. After I installed mine the software download(cause I didnt have 6 cd changer) was $51 . So the whole thing coost me $275. The interface was 25% off at the dealership.

Where are you located? Did the dealer readily agree to the $51 SW update charge, or did you have to squeeze them?

I just installed the interface myself - it was a cinch! I understand that the dealer now has to upgrade the software to enable the interface. BTW, I thought I got a great deal with a 15% discount - but you've cllearly outdone everyone on this board

I am not sure I want to escalate it. The Internet sales group was fine to deal with. The service department is a totally different story! They said they would only 'discount' me the price (which is double the normal price) if I do not complain and give them a 100% positive review when the survay comes in. I more I think about it I get pissed. Are the surveys confidential?

Hi All,

This BMW iPod kit - does it just replicate a CD changer, i.e. skip tracks and jump playlists? Or does it allow you to use a copy of the iPod menu? One key thing would be it displaying the artist, song title etc.. (oh and album covers if using an iPod photo ot Video...)

I am used to the Dension iPod kit (not on the BMW) and that worked like a CD Changer but wished i could do a little more...

I am trying to decide whether to install the BMW kit or wait for the new Dension kit...Hmmm

What are your thoughts on this?

Check the manual posted on the M5 board http://www.m5board.com/vbulletin/showpost....mp;postcount=33

Assuming it does ever get released the Dension specs appears to offer more.

What concerns me about the BMW interface is that us impoverised E60 owners who couldn't afford Nav appear to be stuck with a 500 song limit? Not sure I really understand this but that could be "challenging" with a 60gb IPOD capable of holding 15,000 songs?
