Extremely disappointing to read that only 09/05 and later may install the ipod interface. I got the same story told when I wanted MP3 compatibility, but that was possible to do anyway.

Does anybody now what the showstopper is for the 03/05 production batch?
I'm in by the skin of my teeth if these dates are correct - However that was when I had the car delivered, so it may be that my car is too early!!!! I do however have MP3 compatibilty via the CD slot in the dash

This is an roller coaster of uncertainty :'( . The dealers in the UK are worse than useless, so banking on a statement of total clarity and accuracy from someone out there

I don't think that is correct. Where did you see the 09/05 prerequisite? It's not in the BMW documents/advertisements I have seen. The iPod interface is "only" a CD changer simulator, and CD changer has always worked in the E60.

I'm 99% sure the kit will work in any E60...

In a nut shell, an e63 guy install the kit himself on an 01/05 build. Worked just fine as soon as he buttoned up the car and turned on the key.

I realize the install instructions say 65 41 0 415 655 but all units installed to date have been 65 11 0 403 651 in US (2) and Europe (2) as well. So the marketing bulletin is correct for part number not the install instructions. However, the install instructions work fine to do actual install.

Part is currently on hold by engineers as I called some dealer around here. I was told that it cannot be programmed to the car

Folks still getting kits and installing themselves as late as yesterday with no problems reported.

I guess BMW wants us to pay for the labour for the part so trying to figure out a way to scam us lol...just kidding....Is this Unit available in Germany or Japan yet? Can someone verify?

Just called my local dealer here in the UK (Sytner) and got him to check the part number, still not available to order

I've got an 11/04 build E60, no NAV no MP3 but 6CD installed. If anyone does a succesful install on an early E60 could they let the forum know?
The only reason I can think that BMW don't support the IPOD interface pre MY 03/05 is that there is some dependency on prof radio rather than business radio (just like the in dash CD MP3 issue). That truly would be pain for us early adopters

OK, I am booked in to have my iPod Integration Kit fitted on Wednesday 13th September.

Cost is ?300 inc vat fitted.

From memory it's around ?145 for the kit, ?90 Labour + Vat.

Will be glad to get rid of all the bloody cd cases in every possible place in the car, left by my good wife.
