Typically, I would say no, but with a black car, you will not see them. I really object to light color cars with black mud flaps.

They do fit very well.
They do not scrape the road, so far.
Look good or not is a very personal question. I say that it looks good.
They function very well in Boston winter, so far.

After a year and a half. I still have not put on the flaps like I planned...however, no chips or scratches...I'm sure the black paint hides what could be asphalt, but I sure don't see them. Then again, it doesn't rain much on So Cal. I still don't think it looks bad...even on the lighter cars.
