Unfortunately it's just BMW (or BMW NA) that is to be blamed for doing stupid stuff like red rear turn signals. They did that on rare occasions in the past, like the Z8 and E39 touring. However, it's becoming more and more common now. In other countries both the E90 4 door 3er's and E70 X5's have turn signal lenses that look almost red when off, but amber when the lamp is on/flashing. However, on the US model E90 and E70 the lens looks 100% red when off AND when the lamp is on/flashing. They spared us with the E92 and left the turn signals yellow/amber (as they should be), but then messed up again with the E60 LCI turn signals where the lens is clear and it turns on/flashes red.
Not to hijack the thread or anything, but does anybody seemed concerned about this? I would think BMWNA would put safety over aesthetics but they don't. I have emailed BMWNA through the Owner's Circle, but all I got after 3-4 back and forth emails and even pictures detailing the difference between Euro-spec and US-spec models, was the standard:

"Thank you for the further information. Your comments are important in helping us evaluate the needs and expectations of BMW customers. BMW is attuned and responsive to the sentiments of our valued owners. Please be assured, we work on a continual basis to improve our services and your comments will be reviewed and utilized internally."

Does anyone want to start a petition for BMWNA to use amber turn signals as standard? Let's get this started if anyone is interested.

Good job on the retrofit though!

Any pic for full action like braking, turn signal blinking, and rear lights on?

Cwest, can you please do a video clip too on the taillights and the "side effects" that occur when ignition (the strobing) ...i'd like to see the results...is it still the same as what happened with the old wiring diagrams? thanks...
