And news to me, now that I am seeing more LCI models out, the turn signals are blinking red instead of yellow in pre-LCI.

Unfortunately that is the case with US model LCI's. That's why when I order the LCI taillights I will be getting the European ones so that they will have the yellow/amber turn signals.
Why the US tail-lights blink red is beyond me especially when they make BMW remove the Red Reflectors from the rear bumpers and then they make them add horrible look yellow reflectors to the front bumper!!

I prefer the yellow/amber blinkers in the tail (maybe b/c I'm used to it) but I can't stand the amber reflectors in the front (either on the headlamp or fender).

All those who bought these lights in the group buy received the EU spec tail-lights i.e. yellow blinkers.

Unfortunately it's just BMW (or BMW NA) that is to be blamed for doing stupid stuff like red rear turn signals. They did that on rare occasions in the past, like the Z8 and E39 touring. However, it's becoming more and more common now. In other countries both the E90 4 door 3er's and E70 X5's have turn signal lenses that look almost red when off, but amber when the lamp is on/flashing. However, on the US model E90 and E70 the lens looks 100% red when off AND when the lamp is on/flashing. They spared us with the E92 and left the turn signals yellow/amber (as they should be), but then messed up again with the E60 LCI turn signals where the lens is clear and it turns on/flashes red.

By the way, I prefer the amber reflectors in the front bumpers to the previous ones that were integrated inside the headlights becuase at least now the headlights look all clear like the Euro ones. It's also a lot easier and cheaper to get rid of the amber reflectors in the bumper (if someone doesn't like it) than it was with the previous headlight integrated ones. The bumper reflectors can be painted body color, or replaced with clear aftermarket ones which I am sure will be out soon (as they were for the E46 coupe reflectors). With the headlight integrated amber reflectors the complete headlights needed to be replaced with Euro ones in order to get rid of the amber reflector (at a cost of $2000).

When you switch off the lights the LEDs fade off instead of switching off. An effect similar to the interior lights in the car.
