It wasn't the whole picture. 35w HIDs are cooler than 55w halogen. Comparatively, 35w halogen would be cooler than 35w HIDs.

The LCI Xenon AE bulbs are 55w, so putting a 35w HID in there is actually cooler.

I am running a 55w HID kit in my LCI halogen headlights. I bought them of eBay nearly 2 years ago and had no issues at all. They are 6000k and I have compared side by side with 35W 6000k and there is no different in colour (sometimes you can get a slightly different colour if the HIDS are from different manufacture even if they both are the same 6000k or 8000k.....) , 55w looks slightly brighter thought. After install I went to local garage to make sure my headlights are not pointing too hight or to low. I had never been flashed considering I am driving a lot in night time. Also, I had quite few trips which took over 8hrs with HIDs on and nothing melted.

I knew I was missing something! Thanks for clearing it up.

Sounds like a pretty good testimonial...there seems to be a lack of melting problems being reported so I might just pull the trigger on the 55W. Thanks for the info

Thus far I've put in some 5W Ebay LED's...they weren't so bright..... going to throw the 10W in the same housing and see if they're any better when I get my AC issue fixed...but i've gone back to stock for now because anything else gets overpowered by my 55w low beams.
