Just got mine done in Austria. here is the total expense:
264 EUr for the set 65410415655
190 EUR for labour and coding

There has been a bulletin that says only 45 mins is required to build it in, so I guess the 190 EUR is a bit steep! I guess the additional programming makes it more expensive.

cheers rumman
ps. btw. my car is a pre 03/05 build (02/05) and had cip 20

what kind of radio head unit do you have? Professional or Business? Was your car Mp3 retrofitted or it needed the cip update to do that and also run the adapter?

i have a nav prof, had a cd changer with cip version 20 (the first release with mp3). they did do a sw update, though i am really questioning the sense behind that, as there were some positings that said that you can do it without an update. the update has caused my nav prof to stall which is pi$$ing me off

I just ordered my unit. Will get it shortly. I am going to install the unit in my car without the update to see if it works. However I DO NOT have MP3 capability in my head unit and I dont have NAV . I just have 6CD changer and Single CD in the dash. So not sure if my car will run the ipod connector or not without the sw update. Havent had any sw updates in my car yet.

HI Guys,
My car is now ipod ready and I pick it up in the morning.
I took it in on Monday and expected them to have it all day but got
a call to say that I won't get it until Wed morning. It was actually
ready about 4.30pm Tues (today) but I couldn't get there in time.
I was told it was the s/w upgrade that has 25 different progs to update?
And that a Master Technician was working on it. They also advised me
that the cd changer will no longer work but I knew that from reading on
here anyway. I don't know how much the final cost is yet so I'll report tommorrrow.
Apparently this is the first one they (Vines Gatwick) have installed.

Please tell me that you at least got a quote and they verbally told you that it wouldn't be much more than what the quote says. Otherwise prepare to bend over and take it from behind cause they're going to try and charge you for 8 hours of labor + parts which is going to run you over a grand. For your sake I hope not, but I can just see it now.

Yes I saw some discussion over on another board about that, I don't think it is supplied and the part number in the bmw instructions might be wrong. The end of this thread talks about what might be the right part number:

Good luck!

The part number for the changer blank is 51.16.7.111.141

Good deal. Always nice to see that some dealers can be honest and upright.

Can you post pics of the IDrive screen, does it emulate the IPOD when playing MP3's..
