What do you get for this?
What do you lose? (for example -do you lose 6cd capability?
Which dealer are you using?
Not only do you lose 6 cd capability you lose the 6 cd unit itself. It has to be removed. The ipod adaptor fits into that space and the wiring from the 6 cd changer fits into the ipod adaptor.

OK, I am booked in to have my iPod Integration Kit fitted on Wednesday 13th September.

Cost is ?300 inc vat fitted.

From memory it's around ?145 for the kit, ?90 Labour + Vat.

Will be glad to get rid of all the bloody cd cases in every possible place in the car, left by my good wife.
I'm booked for the same day.

Hi Guys,
For UK owners, the IPOD connection is available at Vines (Gatwick).
I booked it today and it will cost ?165 + vat for the kit and ?87 inc vat for fitting.
They said it takes 1 - 1.5 hrs to fit but will need the car all day as the i-drive will
need updating and that takes about 6hrs. I tried Vines ( Redhill ) first but they
could only offer the AUX connection for about ?235 all in. The guy at Gatwick did
say that it only appeared this morning on their computer after an update.

Oh! by the way I've got a May '04 545i

Thanks Monster, my dealer is quoting around the same price but is unclear whether it will work on my 04 model (especially as I don't have Nav/Pro radio but do have the CD changer). Also they suggested I'd have to pay extra for the SW update if it is required.

Could you let the forum know the final price, your car spec (Nav/Pro/CD changer) and whether the install worked ok?

Hi MTRHEAD,
I'm having it done on Monday so I'll report back and let you know.
They didn't ask what radio install I have ( I have Nav ) only if I have cd changer
(which I do). I checked the part no with the parts guy first and the ipod conn kit came up
but interestingly he could'nt find the blank plate that covers the hole where the cd will
be taken out. So I'll wait and see what they do about that. He thought it may come in
the kit but It didn't look like it from the drawing. That didn't give any indication that they
would charge extra for the sw update but said it's something they have to do on all e60
when dealing with anything electrical on the car.

Yes I saw some discussion over on another board about that, I don't think it is supplied and the part number in the bmw instructions might be wrong. The end of this thread talks about what might be the right part number:

Good luck!

Well, I spoke to my dealer (Coopers of Sevenoaks) a couple of days ago. I was told that the iPod interface is now available in UK. The cost is approx 470 GBP before VAT.

So, maybe contacting another dealer would be a good idea!

I have spoken to two dealers in the manchester area this am (blue bell and david homes) both quoted ?340 inc vat. (?165.96 for kit ?123.04 for labour)
Booked it in at david holmes and suggested that the labour was steep as other users on the forum have been quoted ?75 plus vat

Either way mine is in for Wed 20th

Just got mine done in Austria. here is the total expense:
264 EUr for the set 65410415655
190 EUR for labour and coding

There has been a bulletin that says only 45 mins is required to build it in, so I guess the 190 EUR is a bit steep! I guess the additional programming makes it more expensive.

cheers rumman
ps. btw. my car is a pre 03/05 build (02/05) and had cip 20
