So I decided to remove the charcoal filter earlier this week and ended up ordering the new K&N filter to replace the stock, orange filter. Definitely a noticeable difference and sound from the car. I'm sure it's much greater with the 550, but not a bad mod for $50. Next up, remap of the ECU by Superchips.

Just thought I'd share.
Great! I am debating between the K&N airfilter and the Dinan CAI. Any thoughts as to which will be more gain and performance?

Thanks!

The Dinan CAI would give you more horsepower because they add a secondary intake tubing that goes to the front grille to draw in cold air. They also supply a high flow filter element similar to K&N but I think it's made from a different company. I'm unclear what the differences in hp gain between removing the charcoal filter and adding a K&N vs getting a Dinan CAI but it's definitely cheaper to just do a K&N.

Well, I can tell you that the K&N will be a boat load cheaper. This is just an air filter, not an entire CAI. How much does Dinan charge for theirs??? $400-$500 not including labor? K&N is $50 and it's a DIY. However, the Dinan CAI will probably provide much more response than a simple filter swap...

The Dinan CAI is $1099. It's a whole new assembly with a new airbox because there's a secondary intake tubing. Part of that secondary tube is carbon fiber but this is only for cosmetics.
